Iranian Navy messes with US Navy

This past weekend, the Iranian Navy decided to provoke several US Navy ships in international waters before running away.

U.S. military officials said the incident occurred Saturday night in the Strait of Hormuz, a narrow shipping channel leading in and out of the Persian Gulf.

The five Iranian ships made “threatening” moves — in one case coming within 200 yards of a U.S. ship, the U.S. officials said.

In one radio transmission, the Iranians told the U.S. Navy: “I am coming at you. You will explode in a couple of minutes,” the U.S. military officials told CNN.

Children, thats what the Iranian government is composed of, children that need attention constantly. They can’t stand it that the US media is paying more attention to the presidential primaries than their nuclear ambitions.

UPDATE (2:18 CST)

Here is the New York Times take on the event that includes much more detail than the original report.

Russia protects its interests

Well, first Russia agrees to build nuclear reactors in Iran and now they are discussing selling Tehran air defense missiles.

Iranian Defense Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar said Tehran has signed a contract with Russia on Tuesday for the delivery of the advanced S-300 air defense missile systems, Iran’s Fars news agency said on Wednesday.

The defense minister provided no details of the deal or any timeline for the delivery of the system.

The signing of the deal follows last week’s meeting on military-technical cooperation between the two nations in Tehran, where both sides reviewed existing agreements and discussed further steps to enhance military cooperation.

Air defense and radar systems are the priority directions in Russia-Iran military cooperation, Mikhail Dmitriyev, director of Russia’s federal service for military-technological cooperation, said last week.

Wouldn’t want all those shiny new Russian made “reactors” be bombed by Israel now would we?

Israel would survive

A new study finds that even in a nuclear exchange with Iran, Israel would still come out on top. However, would it even be considered a win when the casualties on both sides could reach 20 million?

No Nukes?

Well, the votes are in and it seems that all of America’s intelligence agencies doubt that Iran has any nuclear weapons or has even been pursuing them since 2003.

Overwhelming Support

Well, at least thats what the polls show about the Afghan’s support for our military.

UN condemns North Korea’s Human Rights Violations

The United Nations’ Human Rights Committee will bring a draft condemning North Korea’s human rights violations to the General Assembly for a final vote. In the draft along with singling out North Korea, the committee also condemned the human rights record of Iran and Myanmar. Cuba, probably feeling like they may be the next to be singled out for their human rights record, tried to rally some nations against the draft.

Before the vote, Cuba rallied members of the 118-nation Nonaligned Movement which it heads not to approve the draft resolution because it singled out North Korea.

However, that didn’t seem to do much because the draft passed easily with a 97-23 vote with only 60 abstentions. I really don’t know what the fuss is about; The result of the vote in the General Assembly will be non-binding and will most likely have no affect on the countries what-so-ever. The world already knows that human rights are constantly being ignored in those countries so its not like it will even raise awareness of the atrocities happening there.

UPDATE:

Yea, Iran was pretty angry with the UN’s panel including them in it’s draft so you know what they did? Sentence 50 college age kids to death because of “immorality.” Hmmm, for some reason I don’t think that will help their case.

Gotcha!

New photo evidence seems to add even more credence to the theory that Ahmadinejad was one of the captors in the takeover of the US embassy in Iran.

He’s got to be kidding…

Ron Paul recently stated that he would do nothing if Iran gained nuclear weapons. Here’s Hot Air’s take on this. Even if you believe that full out military intervention wouldn’t be necessary, to say that Iran is “incapable of even attacking their neighbors” is ludicrous. Iran has been attacking their neighbors by supporting terrorist organizations. It takes some guts to say that you would do nothing if Iran had nukes but he is way off base here and I won’t be surprised if we see some political back peddling in the next couple days.

No Response

Well October 12 came and went and, by my account, Israel didn’t receive a “final response” from Iran.

However, Al Gore did win the Noble Peace Prize on Friday. Coincidence? Probably, but wouldn’t that be weird if it wasn’t?

Syria and Iran in bed together

Officials from Iran and Syria met yesterday and reviewed their mutual interest including how they could expand their “technological” cooperation.

They also explored new avenues for cooperation in technological field and it was agreed that the issue be followed up through exchange of visits between officials of both countries.

I’m sure that these countries won’t just be exchanging “visits” in the future.
