Oh how I love the New Media. It offers so many creative minds the ability to share with the world their labors of love. But that isn’t what this post is about; this post concerns the recent “Earth Hour” protest thingy that took place this past Saturday.

For those of you who might have participated without knowing, here is a video to elaborate:

Yea, my thoughts exactly, what a waste of time and effort (what little effort there was, at least). Plus it was taking place on a Saturday at 8:30pm around the world. Honestly, a Saturday? How many people are going to be home at that time anyways which automatically makes them participants, knowingly or not.

But this “protest” wasn’t without its ups. Without it, we wouldn’t get such creative spin-offs like the video below via IMAO. Enjoy:

I really don’t know why I thought it was that funny. I don’t know, maybe it was the soundtrack or perhaps it was the part when it stated “Because global warming…waits for no one” that finally got me. Whatever the case, it gave me a good chuckle and I think we all deserve one considering our country’s current political circumstances.

Well duh he is going to say this. What really surprises me is that the Guardian found his statement to be something profound enough to run a whole article based off of it. Honestly folks, this is the same guy who basically advocates eco-terrorism and establishing a carbon czar to make sure we never have cheap oil again.

If you forgot those things, take a look at these two videos to refresh your memory (eco-terrorist first, carbon czar second):

Al Gore is scheduled before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Wednesday morning to once again testify on the ‘urgent need’ to combat global warming.

But Mother Nature seems ready to freeze the proceedings.

A ‘Winter Storm Watch’ has been posted for the nation’s capitol and there is a potential for significant snow… sleet… or ice accumulations.

“I can’t imagine the Democrats would want to showcase Mr. Gore and his new findings on global warming as a winter storm rages outside,” a Republican lawmaker emailed the DRUDGE REPORT. “And if the ice really piles up, it will not be safe to travel.”

A spokesman for Sen. John Kerry, who chairs the committee, was not immediately available to comment on contingency plans.

Global warming advocates have suggested this year’s wild winter spells are proof of climate change.

Wow. Am I seeing things or did Huffington Post actually post an article arguing against global warming alarmist? I am honestly a little shocked right now. By this article popping up on Huffington Post, one is led to believe the claim that the deniers did indeed win in 2008.

I must say, Harold Ambler, who wrote this article for HuffPo, is currently my hero. His whole article attacks Al Gore and the many “whoppers” he has sold to the public. Here is a brief summary of what Ambler argues:

The phrase “climate change” is redundant and misleading. Climate has always been changing and always will. Gore wants you to believe the there is such a thing as a stable climate.

What came first: Temperature rises or CO2 increases? Ambler argues the former (In the past, CO2 increases have lagged 800 years behind temperature) while Gore will try to convince you the latter.

CO2 can only absorb a limited amount of infrared radiation and has already reached its maximum. Therefore temperatures theoretically shouldn’t rise any higher.

However, the mechanism of CO2 increases causing temperature increases has never been shown to exist

Henrik Svensmark lays out a theory of cosmic rays interfering with our atmosphere. More cosmic rays cause more clouds and more cooling and vice versa. (Read The Chilling Stars by Henrik Svensmark for more on this theory)

The sun obviously has a very strong effect on our atmosphere and climate.

Volcano vents in the ocean floors also cause problems (especially in the arctic)

He finishes with a graph that shows record levels of ice in the Antarctic in 2007.

The whole article is pretty impressive and probably one of the better anti-alarmist pieces I have seen yet. It is well thought out and presents the evidence quite succinctly. Basically, the only thing else I can say is this: Read the whole article.

PS. Does anyone else think that it is funny that this article is posted under the “Green” section of Huffington Post (though I don’t know where else they could put it)?

It has taken some time but now people are beginning to see that all the proposed government regulations are unnecessary and only lead to bigger government.

According to this Telegraph article, it would seem that 2008 was the year the man-made global warming was finally disproved. Here are the three reasons the author gives for the deniers’ victory:

First, all over the world, temperatures have been dropping in a way wholly unpredicted by all those computer models which have been used as the main drivers of the scare. Last winter, as temperatures plummeted, many parts of the world had snowfalls on a scale not seen for decades. This winter, with the whole of Canada and half the US under snow, looks likely to be even worse. After several years flatlining, global temperatures have dropped sharply enough to cancel out much of their net rise in the 20th century.

(…)

Secondly, 2008 was the year when any pretence that there was a “scientific consensus” in favour of man-made global warming collapsed. At long last, as in the Manhattan Declaration last March, hundreds of proper scientists, including many of the world’s most eminent climate experts, have been rallying to pour scorn on that “consensus” which was only a politically engineered artefact, based on ever more blatantly manipulated data and computer models programmed to produce no more than convenient fictions.

Thirdly, as banks collapsed and the global economy plunged into its worst recession for decades, harsh reality at last began to break in on those self-deluding dreams which have for so long possessed almost every politician in the western world. As we saw in this month’s Poznan conference, when 10,000 politicians, officials and “environmentalists” gathered to plan next year’s “son of Kyoto” treaty in Copenhagen, panicking politicians are waking up to the fact that the world can no longer afford all those quixotic schemes for “combating climate change” with which they were so happy to indulge themselves in more comfortable times.

Hat Tip Drudge

You remember the recent AP Story about how Barack Obama needed to do something about Global Warming because there was little time left? Well it seems that several scientists disagree with the article’s claims and one goes as far as calling the AP piece ‘propaganda.’

“The mean global temperature, at least as measured by satellite, is now the same as it was in the year 1980. In the last couple of years sea level has stopped rising. Hurricane and cyclone activity in the northern hemisphere is at a 24-year low and sea ice globally is also the same as it was in 1980.”

Deming said the article is further evidence of the media’s decision to talk about global warming as fact, despite what he says is a lack of evidence.

“Reporters, as I understand reporters, are supposed to report facts,”Deming said. “What he’s doing here is he’s writing a polemic and reporting it as fact, and that’s not right. It’s not reporting. It’s propaganda.

“This reads like a press release for an environmental advocacy group like Greenpeace. It’s not fair and balanced.” (Emphasis Added)

My favorite part of his whole OP-ED is where he counters Obama’s “green jobs scheme” by stating that “billions of dollars in tax subsidies would create plenty of new jobs in almost any sector.” And, as we all know, subsidies come from taxes that you and I pay. Therefore, you the taxpayer is picking up the tab for all these expensive technologies.

Today, the Senate’s Environment and Public Works Committee Minority (aka Republicans) posted a full list of 650 International Scientists who have spoken out against the Man-Made Global Warming Theory. I didn’t take the time to go through and read about every single scientist in the 231 page report but I did skim through it and recognized several names.

For those of you who may be wondering why this is such a big deal, proponents of anthropological global warming state that there is a “consensus” of scientists out there. This list seems to shatter the whole “consensus” theory unless by “consensus” they mean that except the many dissenting scientist, all scientists agree that global warming is caused by man. If that is their definition of “consensus” then they are correct. However, whenever I have seen the whole consensus argument used, it seems like they mean that there is no legitimate dissenters among us “deniers.” Obviously, from the extensive list above, they are wrong.

Oh and one other thing, science isn’t ruled by consensus. Remember Copernicus? Galileo? Yea, they were considered “deniers” in their own time.
