Ron Paul still makes me laugh

Even with his presidential bid over, Ron Paul still finds ways to make his way into the news. What was his latest antic that was found newsworthy? Well, it seems that Paul was the only Representative to vote against sending our condolences to the people of Myanmar that were affected by the cyclone.

As the article states, these resolutions are just ceremonial and overall are completely worthless. Why he would vote against something this simple if it doesn’t commit any of our resources is beyond me. Even if he doesn’t give a care about anything else that happens in the world you would think a simple “We offer our condolences” would be fine. Crazy kid.

Anyways, my favorite part of the article was that the author referred to Ron Paul followers as “Paultards.” That made me laugh just because I, for one, have never heard his followers called that.

This John is way better

Now this is a Presidential Candidate that I could get behind.

Tranquil Tableau: Week 9

Here is another installment of my “Tranquil Tableau” series. This one is taken in Ireland overlooking the Cliffs of Moher or better known as the “Cliffs of Insanity” from the movie The Princess Bride.

CRACKED Presidential Campaign Posters

CRACKED.com has an awesome article with their top 15 (fake) campaign posters for this years presidential election. Here are two of my favorites:

I about had my orange juice coming out of my nose when I read that “Jesus” one.

Lieberman is a pretty decent fellow

Today, Lieberman voiced his support for Bush’s statements about world leaders who want to talk to terrorists. Who would have thought that the former VP of the all-knowing Goracle would turn out to be a such decent fellow?

Sharia Law established in Pakistan

According to Ali Eteraz, It seems that Sharia Law has basically been established in Pakistan’s North Western Frontier Province. And guess what? The new PPP majority government is supporting this.

And people thought Musharraf was bad. At least he didn’t appease the terrorists.

Edwards picks a side

It sure took him a while but John Edwards finally picked Barack Obama as his choice for president. This endorsement will probably help Obama after his defeat in West Virginia and may even skew the polls in Kentucky to his favor.

Obama mixing Religion and Politics, Again

Once again, I am finding it really funny at how the liberals in this election are mixing religion and politics so shamelessly. Long gone are the days when they gave just subtle hints about their religious beliefs. So who was it this time that is blatantly using religion for their political gain? None other than Barack Obama.

In a new tract that is circulating in Kentucky at the moment, Barack Obama is pictured in a church with a cross in the background. This political tract has a quote from Obama saying that he wouldn’t be fulfilling God’s will unless he “go[es] out and do[es] the Lord’s work.” And I’m guessing the “Lord’s work” would be running for president?

As Ed Morrissey at HotAir.com points out, Mike Huckabee, who is a former Baptist minister, got crucified(there might be a pun intended) by the media for having a “floating cross” in the background of his Christmas commercial.

Why am I making such a big deal of Obama’s blatant use of religion for political gain? Shouldn’t I, a Christian, be happy to have such a religious candidate?
Well the reason I am making such a big deal about this is because liberals are always the ones going on and on about keeping a separation between church and state. Judging by how he is running his campaign, I highly doubt he believes in this. For example, the two Obama events I attended in South Carolina both opened up with choirs singing gospel songs (read my stories here and here).

Liberals always blame conservatives for wanting to set up some sort of religious theocracy. Well I have news for you liberals: Your supposed Presidential candidate is using religion as a crutch far more than any of the other presidential candidates in the race (either right of left).

West Virginia is Clinton’s South Carolina

If you can remember the South Carolina primary way back in January, you will remember that Clinton experienced a very decisive loss that arguably helped to propel Obama to the forefront. I mean, Clinton lost to Obama 55%-27%.

However, Clinton’s win in West Virginia is on par (if not more impressive) than Obama’s South Carolina win. Her win by over 40% in West Virginia this late in the game just shows how disappointed Democrats are with Obama, the supposed nominee.

I highly doubt she will be leaving anytime soon. However, there are some who believe that she will drop out after the May 20th primaries (she’s way ahead in Kentucky but behind in Oregon). The argument for this is that after another big win in Kentucky, she can gracefully exit and set herself up nicely for a vice presidential bid or another strong presidential bid down the road.

I hope she stays in. The longer she does, the less I have to focus on the fact that we have McCain as our “conservative” candidate.

Obama’s many questionable acquaintances

LGF has a list of some of Obama’s “friends” that the average guy would probably steer clear of. Here’s a few:

* Unrepentant Weather Underground terrorists William Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn.

* Reverend Jeremiah Wright. What more needs to be said?

* Anti-Israel foreign policy adviser Samantha Power — fired after calling Hillary Clinton a “monster.”
