Al Gore led the crusade

The Wall Street Journal came out with an article today stating that Al Gore wasn’t the first one to sound the alarm about man made global warming. However, according to the dates they give, he was definitely one of the firsts. The first date they give was in 1979 which Gore was already a pretty big proponent of environmental measures then. The next date is 1988 and by that time, Gore had already co-sponsored congressional hearings about global warming.

1980s: Representative Al Gore (D-TN), who had been a student of Revelle’s, co-sponsored the first Congressional hearings to study the implications of global warming and to encourage the development of environmental technologies to combat global warming.

I don’t know if this WSJ article was assuming that Gore’s movie “An Inconvenient Truth” was the first action in Gore’s global warming crusade or not. However, they don’t even put a quote attributed to Gore about global warming until the timeline gets to the year 2006, roughly 20 years after the inception of his crusade.

So why would I, a known “global warming skeptic” be defending Al Gore’s claim to have been on the front lines since the beginning? Well, I’m sorry to break it to you, but its not that I feel bad for the man for not getting credit where it’s due. Instead, I just want to make sure everyone knows that he has been this crazy since the beginning. One definition of insanity is repeating the same actions and expecting to get different results. He’s been doing this since the 80’s folks. That’s a long time.
