WaPo’s ‘8 Questions That Today’s Primaries Could Answer’
Tomorrow, The Washington Post will publish an article covering seven major questions that may be answered in tomorrow’s primaries. “Now wait a minute,” you might be saying, “the title says there are eight major questions.” I know that, but the fact is that the 8th question they ask is just plain stupid and not going to be resolved by tomorrow’s results. Here, take a look at it yourself:
Can you explain the Texas voting system?
8.Very simple, really. By day, Texas conducts a primary, open to all comers. When the polls close tonight, the Democrats will hold caucuses in 8,000 sites around the state, open to anyone who participated in the primary. The primary will award two-thirds of the delegates, the caucuses the rest.
The real question is whether this system, dubbed the Texas two-step, makes any sense. The Clintons, who by now have a deep aversion to all things caucus-related, have expressed their unhappiness with the system.
To be honest, I was really dissapointed when I got to this point in the article. I was really hoping for the WaPo to predict some mind boggling question that will be answered tomorrow. But no, they let me down by making the 8th question something that is totally independent of any of the results tomorrow so thanks a lot. Honestly, any list like this should have the last question being utterly profound or at least on par with the rest of them, not a let down like this.
Anyways, the rest of the article just talks about how Hillary better drop out if she loses and asks the question whether Obama will be able to garner the Hispanic vote. They even threw in a question about whether Huckabee will stay in or not. Overall, the article brings up some good questions that hopefully will be answered tomorrow. Just remember to not make the same mistake I made and expect the last question to be earth shattering or anything like that. It’s not.
